Crimson Daggers Sci Fi Hunter Pet Challenge
Hi everyone here's my entry for the Crimson Daggers Sci Fi Hunter and Pet Challenge. I wish I'd had more time to do this it was really fun, I only had one night and a few hours spare here and there this week. There's still so much I want to polish and fix. I still might finish this for a portfolio piece.

A couple more sketches
Hi there, here are a few sketches from reference from my sketch book and some perspective/composition studies from various artists. I'm trying to work on environments because at the moment I suck at them and I really want to be able to do characters in believeable environments.

Hi there just a couple of quick sketches. The crapy star wars ish one I did at work during lunch, and the others were done here and there at lunch time. I've been trying to get some more personal work and
studies done but I've got tons on with my day job work and freelance. Hopefully I"ll free up soon.

Sergent study
Heres a study from a John Singer Sergent painting called Olivia Richardson. It took around 2 h give or take. I did this over a few lunch breaks at work. It was good fun the eyes are a bit wonky and the colour is off a bit. I've noticed I tend to make things a bit too yellow and de saturated.

Ghostrider
Hi everyone here is some ghost rider fan art I just finished up. I started this piece to enter into a competition to illustrate a poster for the upcoming ghost rider movie . I got about half way through when I read the contest rules and it turns out I'm not eligible to enter because I live out side the USA (in New Zealand). Ah man stink. I finished it anyway because I was liking how it was shaping up, and having fun doing it. Man fire is supper hard to render ha ha.

Alien study
Hi everyone. Here's another colour/lighting study. This time from Alien. It took around 3.5 hours. The colour is slightly off compared to the original, this ended up too yellow and the blue is a bit off. But that's why I'm studying to get better with colour. Still had fun with it.

Amazon_02
I was trying something different with this so it's not my usual. It was more of a quick sketch while trying a different approach.
Spidermech
This was a quick sketch I did watching one of Feng Zhu's tutorials. if you haven't seen his tutorials they're really good, he breaks everything down really well, and they're free. Check them out if you haven't already. http://www.youtube.com/user/FZDSCHOOL
Invincible steps
So I thought I would post a step by step of the Invincible painting I did the other day. For anyone who's interested. I'm a big process junkie and love it when artists share their steps.
This isn't my usual process but I've been playing around with what works best for me lately. I've tried a whole bunch of different processes, from starting in grey scale then colourizing to starting straight in colour, blocking in the shapes and then refining. I still haven't settled on anything that I'm 100% on yet so I'll keep experimenting I think.

Aliens Study
Man I love this movie, its definitely one of my favourites. This was a colour/ lighting study, I'm trying to improve all aspects of my work. It was fun though, I love movie stills their such great source of reference for lighting, colour, composition, everything really.
Done over three nights, I probably spent around 4 hours on this, probably more than I should for a study. Oh well It was good fun.

Invincible
Hi everyone here's some Invincible Fan art. I'm a big fan of Ryan Ottley, if you haven't seen his work or Invincible it's an awesome comic you should definitely check it out. http://wya.deviantart.com/
So here's my interpretation I wanted to try and do a more realistic version of him. I had a lot of fun on this.

I did these last two at the White cloud worlds workshop, run by Paul Tobin and Warren Mahy from Weta workshop. It was a great workshop really cool to meet Paul and Warren.
